Hopwood Hall College
Message from the Hopwood Hall College:
We are delighted to announce some very good news: After the hugely popular Animal Academy programmes and due to high demand, we have decided to run them again over the Easter Holidays.
This incredible 4-day adventure for young people aged 13-16 who aspire to develop a career working with animals. Delivered by our in-house team of zoologists and expert tutors, these immersive programmes are set to give young people 24 hours of highly sought-after practical experience - perfect foundations for a career in working with animals. Animal Academy students will learn all about the unique lives of our endangered animals at Hopwood Hall College, we have over 500 animals here, including meerkats, flamingos, wallabies and alpacas to name but a few so this promises to be an amazing experience.
Courses will be held on the following weeks 9am until 3pm:
Monday 3rd April until Thursday 6th April
Tuesday 11th April until Friday 14th April

ENRICHMENT ACTIVITIES
To celebrate National Careers Weeks, Tuesday 41our Year 10 pupils attended an employability workshop hosted by HPE.
The focus of the workshop was to provide pupils with advice and guidance on how to promote and present themselves in an interview. This included helping them to identify their strengths and skills and how best to “sell” themselves to prospective employees.
The workshop comprised of four sections - Interview Skills, CV writing, Team Work and Linked in.mock interview workshop hosted by representatives of KPMG. The workshop provided pupils with opportunity to gain helpful information on how to conduct themselves in an interview as well as acting out interi Year 9 pupils attended a mock interview with representatives from a variety of sectors and our local FE and Sixth Form Colleges.
The feedback we received was very positive and encouraging.
All of our Year 11 pupils attended a mock interview with representatives from various employment sectors and local businesses as well as our local FE and Sixth Form Colleges and apprenticeship providers.
The feedback received following the interviews was extremely positive and complimentary.
On Wednesday afternoon, an event was held in the LRC for SEN pupils and their parents. We had representatives from Hopwood Hall College, Rochdale Sixth Form College, Oldham Sixth Form College The Manchester College, The Oldham College, Bury College and the Positive Steps Careers Service in attendance to answer any questions raised by pupils and their parents. There were also members of Hollingworth SEN team. The aim of the event was to offer support and ease any anxieties that our Year 11 pupils may be experiencing and to reassure both pupils and parents that support would be in place should they choose to attend respective colleges.
