Welcome to your weekly Careers Blog. The Careers Blog will be used to communicate information on forthcoming careers events, college application opening and closing dates, college open days and much more.
We would encourage all Year 11 students to access the blog on a weekly basis to keep up to date with key dates and all things careers related which could prove useful in their final year at Hollingworth Academy
COLLEGE OPEN DAYS
ROCHDALE SIXTH FORM COLLEGE
Rochdale Sixth Form College will be holding the first of their college open events on Saturday 19th October, from 10.00 am until 2.00 pm. Students should be accompanied by an adult, otherwise entry may be refused.
OLDHAM SIXTH FORM COLLEGE
Oldham Sixth Form College will be hosting the first of their college open events on Saturday 12th October. The event will start at 10.00 am and conclude at 2.00 pm. Once again students should be accompanied by an adult.
THE OLDHAM COLLEGE
The Oldham College is to hold the first of their open events on Saturday 5th October. The event will start at 10.00am and conclude at 1.00pm. As previously stated, students should be accompanied by an adult.
HOLY CROSS SIXTH FORM COLLEGE
Holy Cross Sixth Form College will hold the first of their open events on Saturday 5th October from 10.00am until 1.00pm. Students are advised to be accompanied by an adult, otherwise admission may be refused.
THE MANCHESTER COLLEGE
The Manchester College would like to welcome you to their open event on Tuesday 8th October at locations across Manchester. The evening will commence at 5.00pm and conclude at 7.00pm. HOPWOOD HALL COLLEGE
Hopwood Hall College will be hosting the first of their open events on Saturday 5th October from 10.30am until 1.30pm at both their Rochdale and Middleton campuses. Be sure to check which campus to attend for your preferred course.

ACCESS CREATIVE COLLEGE

COLLEGE APPLICATION OPENING AND CLOSING DATES
ROCHDALE SIXTH FORM COLLEGE
Applications for the Rochdale Sixth Form College will open online from 16th September, with the deadline for application being Thursday 19th December.
OLDHAM SIXTH FORM COLLEGE
Applications for Oldham Sixth Form College will open online in October (date to be confirmed) and will close on 17th January 2025

Applications for Hopwood Hall College open on 30th September. Whilst there is no official deadline, applications received by Christmas will be given priority. It should be borne in mind that popular courses fill up quickly, and so students are advised to apply sooner rather than later to secure their place on their chosen course and to avoid disappointment.

BURY COLLEGE

POSITIVE STEPS
Lynsey Lovelock, our Positive Steps Careers Advisor is in the academy every Tuesday and Thursday. If you think you would benefit from a meeting with Lynsey, please call into the LRC and I will arrange a meeting with her as soon as possible.

All ages are welcome to the open evening and you can bring along a parent or other adult too. You will be able to speak to employers on the day and get some career advice. Jobs can also be applied for whilst attending the open evening.

DATES FOR YOUR DIARY
Pathways SEN Support and Advisory Event
On Wednesday 9th October, we will be hosting a Pathways Information and Advisory Event specifically for SEND students and their parents/carers. Representatives from our local FE and Sixth Form Colleges, as well as our Positive Steps Advisor – Lynsey Lovelock will be attending the event, giving both parents and students access to advice, guidance and support on their post Hollingworth progression pathways. The event will be hosted in the LRC and will start at 2.00pm and conclude at 5.00pm.
Pathways Information Evening
On Wednesday 16th October we will be hosting a Year 11 Pathways Information Evening. This is for Year 11 students and their parents. The evening will provide parents and students with information on the various pathways open to students post Hollingworth. Parents and students will also have the opportunity to meet with representatives of local FE and Sixth Form Colleges and service providers. The event will start at 5.30pm and conclude at 7.30pm. More information will be made available shortly.
Application Lunchtime Drop-Ins
Monday 7th October
A representative from the Rochdale Sixth Form College will be in the academy over the lunchtime period in the LRC to offer advice and guidance to our Year 11 students during the application process.
Wednesday 9th October
A representative from the Hopwood Hall College will be visiting the academy over the lunchtime period. Students are invited to call into the LRC to speak with the college representative who is there to support and offer advice on subject choices and the application process.
